Mr. Larry Rakeen Parks, age 17, passed on January 7, 2009 at his residence. The Bulloch County native was a student at Statesboro High School and employed with R.J.'s Steakery. Larry attend Youth Group at Believers Church and was a member of the Thomas Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He had a love for basketball, racing cars, and people. He leaves memories to be cherished by his mother, Cleftina Mercer, Statesboro, GA; father, Larry Parks, Miami, FL; loving God Parents, Randy and Linda Carlson, Statesboro, GA; brothers, Jaylen Mercer, Statesboro, GA; Travis Lanier and Desmond Parks, both of Metter, GA; sisters, Sakeena Brown, Statesboro, GA; Brittany Parks, Tennessee; Bridget Roberts and Crystal Roberts, both of Sylvania, GA; maternal grandparents, Morris and Sandra Stevens, Statesboro, GA; maternal grandfather, Leon (Clayvera) Jenkins, Statesboro, GA; paternal grandmother, Nita Parks, Statesboro, GA; maternal great-grandmother, Ada Jenkins, Statesboro, GA; paternal great-grandfather, James King, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mr. Parks were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Believers Church of Statesboro (7059 Harville Road) with the Rev. Brock Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Public viewing for Mr. Parks began at 2 p.m., and the family visitation was at 7-8 p.m., on Monday, January 12 in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, Inc. Final rites entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
